Boredom Buster: Group Games
Privacy Policy
Last updated November 3, 2026
Boredom Buster (formerly Shotgun) is a set of card games for groups, published by Stratione LLC ("we", "us"). It runs as an iPhone app (via the App Store) and an Android app (via Google Play); this website hosts its support and privacy pages. This policy explains what data the app and website collect, why, and the choices you have, on either platform.
The short version
- There are no accounts. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- When you like or pass on a card, we record that vote with a random ID created on your device, so we can learn which cards work.
- The free app, on both iPhone and Android, shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect device and usage data to show and measure those ads, as described below.
- You can remove ads with a one-time purchase, and you can turn off personalized ads at any time.
Data we collect
Card votes
Each like or pass sends the deck and card it was for, whether you liked or passed, the time, and a random identifier generated the first time you vote. The identifier is not your Apple advertising identifier (IDFA) or your Google Advertising ID, is not linked to your identity, and is used only to count votes and tell repeat votes apart. Votes are stored on our server (hosted by Vercel, with a Neon Postgres database) and are kept until we no longer need them to improve the decks. Aggregate vote counts may be published.
Website analytics
The website uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying individual visitors.
Purchases
The "Remove Ads" purchase is handled entirely by the platform store: Apple's App Store on iPhone, or Google Play on Android. We receive confirmation that the purchase was made, never your payment details, Apple Account information, or Google Play account information.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free app, on both iPhone and Android, shows banner and full-screen ads served by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. To show, limit and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, Google and its advertising partners may collect:
- your device's advertising identifier — on iPhone, Apple's IDFA, collected only if you allow tracking when the app asks; on Android, the Google Advertising ID, which the app reads unless you've opted out or reset it in Android settings;
- interactions with ads, such as views and taps;
- approximate (coarse) location derived from your IP address;
- device and diagnostic information such as model, operating system version, language and crash data.
Google acts as an independent third party for this data. See how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy.
Your choices
- Tracking (iPhone): the first time you open the app, iOS asks whether to allow tracking. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", ads are not personalized using your advertising identifier. You can change this any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Ad ID (Android): you can opt out of ads personalization, or reset your Google Advertising ID, in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads (the exact path varies by Android version and manufacturer). The app respects that setting.
- Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland): on both platforms we use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent management SDK to ask for your consent before personalized ads are shown. You can review or change your choices in the app under Settings > Privacy Choices.
- Remove ads entirely: buy "Remove Ads" in the app's Settings. After that no ads are requested at all.
- Votes: don't swipe or use the like and pass buttons; skipping a card (tapping it) sends nothing.
Children
Boredom Buster is rated 12+ on the App Store and Teen on Google Play, and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete data about you, or to object to its use. Because we don't link votes to your identity, we may not be able to find your votes without the random ID from your device; contact us and we'll help however we can. California residents: we do not sell personal information, and ad-related sharing can be limited using the choices above.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
